Datentypen Fehler beim convertieren von String to int

Hallo erstmal :),

ich stehe vor einem riesigen Problem und komm nicht weiter. Situation ist folgende:
Die aufgaben Stellung sieht vor, dass die ersten 5 stellen eines Strings in ihre ACSII werte umgerechnet werden und dann wieder aneinander gehängt werden. Dabei kommt es beim letzten zurück umwandeln von dem zusamen gebautem String zu einer NumberFormatExeption was überhaupt keinen sinn macht, da der String nur zahlen enthält.

Java:
    private int decimal(String key) throws ParseException {
     
        int[] acii = new int[5];
        for(int i = 0; i < 5; i++)
        {
            acii[i] = (int)key.charAt(i);
        }
     
        return Integer.parseInt(String.valueOf(acii[0]+""+acii[1]+""+acii[2]+""+acii[3]+""+acii[4]));
    }

Das beispiel ist dabei das key: "ABCDEFG" ist die ersten 5 davon wären "ABDCE" was 6566676869 ist (getestet viva System.out.println) bis dahin ist alles super. Dann aber wirft Java eine NumberFormatException weiß einer weiter? Oder warum es überhaupt zu dem Fehler kommt?

Aber es reicht aus einmal "" zu verwenden. Also
Code:
"" + acii[0] + acii[1] +acii[2]+ acii[3]+acii[4]

Oder man spart sich das Array

Java:

        String retWert = "";
       
        for(int i = 0; i < key.length(); i++) {
            retWert += (int)key.charAt(i);
        }
         
        return Integer.parseInt(retWert);
    }
